About Me

  • When I was little, my grandma Verae would always take pictures of everything. She took photos of us even when we had a mouth full of food. We could hardly leave her house without taking a picture first because "I need a picture of my beautiful grand children." My whole life I shrugged it off thinking "Whatever floats her boat I guess." But it wasn't till I got older and moved away that I realized; Every single one of those ordinary photos weren't ordinary at all.
  • What I once knew to be insignificant photos, ended up teaching me about the importance of time. Those pictures weren't because my grandma liked to torment the kids running away from the camera. They were because she never wanted to forget a single moment of the time spent with her family. It's crazy what happens to a mundane photo over time; We change. How greatful I am that she took the pictures no one else cared to take. Not a single one of those photos can be replicated. Not even our memories can withstand the test of time. But a picture can.

A little bit about me

My name is Aubrey Austad and I live in Orem Utah. I have been married for a year and a half. I love coffee shops, thrifting, and travelling. If my house was burning down and I could only grab one thing it would be my camera. My inspiration is "I don't want to be good, I want to be damn good." A secret I have is that I believe my clients are my new best friends. I am certain I am meant to be a photographer. I've never found anything else that makes me this excited to get out of bed in the morning. Neil Degrasse Tyson said it best when he said, "Pick something you would do for free and make that your career. You'll never live a sad day in your life."

Style

My photography style is a combinations of a few things. I take into consideration the natural energy of my clients. My prioity is to make their photos look and feel like a memory. I err on the side of minimalism and simplicity.
